How to Port codes Empty How to Port codes

Post by SwT Sun Dec 05, 2010 7:44 am

Okay so first of all what is porting?
It is where you take a code then 'convert' it to another version of the same game.

Porting is used to convert codes between regions:

US --> EU

Game series:

Renegade Squadron --> elite Squadron

And game updates.

FTB2 1.50 --> FTB2 1.60

SO HOW DO I PORT?

It is actually not that hard Very Happy I will explain it in as much detail as possible for you Wink

Fist of all you need to download ps2dis.

you can get it here :
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CTZC4GYR

Okay so once you have downloaded it open up two like this:

How to Port codes Screen1-1

Now you need a RAM dump for BOTH versions of the game you are porting between. For me I am porting ES US codes to EU so I need these two RAMdumps:

How to Port codes Screen2-1

If you dont know how to get a RAmdump file that is easy. Just go onto the game open coderPR/NitePR ot whatever then scroll to options. Press 'Dump RAM Slot #0' Then when you plug your PSP in go to thr RAMdumps folder and rename it (to avoid confusion Wink)

Okay so now that you have your RAmdumps open up your windows like this:

How to Port codes Screen3

Now DRAG the US dump into the TOP ps2dis window:

Click ok to the message that pops up and you will have a blue window now.
Do the same thing with the EU dump, but drag that into the BOTTOM ps2dis.

Now you can close the RAMdumps folder, you dont need it anymore.
Okay you should now have this:

How to Port codes Screen4

Now pick the code you want to port. Im going to use Inf Stamina as its easy enough. Copy the ADDRESS of the code but NOT the 0x, so for Inf Stamina I would copy this:

#Infinite stamina
;Credits to Oby1Chick
0x002794AC 0xE4800098

002794AC <== THAT

Now go to your US ps2dis and press 'G' on your keyboard. When the box comes up paste your address into it then press 'ENTER'.

How to Port codes Screen5

Now do exaclty the same thing on your EU ps2dis, with the same address. You should now have this:

How to Port codes Screen6

As you can see the same address is highlighted in dark blue on the US AND EU ps2dis. BUT the HEX value is different.

So look at the US one, it says:

e4810098

The EU one says:

00000000

So what we are doing now is looking for the value e4810098 in the EU ps2dis. Use your arrow keys to scroll DOWN until you find it.

How to Port codes Screen7

Thats it Very Happy

Notice that the US Stamina code says:

002794ac e4810098

And the EU one says:

0027954c e4810098

This shows that the address that controls your stamina is different in both games ;D.

Now that you have your address just change the HEX value to match the US one like this:

#US Inf Stamina
0x002794AC 0xE4800098

#EU Inf Stamina
0x0027954C 0xE4800098

CONGRATULATION YOU'VE PORTED YOUR FIRST CODE Very Happy

Note: This doesnt work on ALL codes but most.

Note 2: I have found that when converting from US to EU the address your looking for is always DOWN never UP.
